ANDREW JOHNSON COLLECTION

imageandrewj.jpg

The T. Elmer Cox Library is fortunate to have acquired a large collection of books, letters and ephemera from Margaret Johnson Patterson Bartlett, great-granddaughter of President Johnson. After the National Park Service acquired the Andrew Johnson Homestead, Mrs. Bartlett also donated a large portion of her great-grandfather's collection to Tusculum University which is on display at the President Andrew Johnson Museum & Library

The Andrew Johnson Collection at the T. Elmer Cox Library has confirmed patterns and connections between existing records with the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site, shedding new light on how he and his family lived and carried out daily business here in Greeneville as well as his time in public service.
